ROM

ROM (Read Only Memory): In ROM, the information is permanently stored and can only be read. New information cannot be entered. It is nonvolatile in the sense that th stored information is not lost even when the power is switched off. It is also known as field stores, dead stores, permanent stores or static memory. ROM is read-enabled and write-disabled. Computer manufacturers store low-level machine functions or microprograms of permanent nature in ROM chip.
