RAM (Random Access Memory): In RAM, it is possible to randomly select and use any location for direct storage and retrieval of data and instruction. It makes the same amount of time to access any location inside the memory. It is also known as a read/write memory. It is volatile in the sense that the stored information is lost when the power is switched off.
