Accumulator Register

The accumulator register holds the initial data to be operated  upon, the intermediate results and the final results coming out of the processing operations. The results of the arithmetic operations are returned to the accumulator register from where the same are transferred to the main storage through the MBR. It is denoted by the ‘A’ i.e. A Register.
