PROM

A variation of a ROM chip is a PROM chip. PROM is the abbreviation of ‘Programmable Read Only Memory’. Unlike ROM, it is possible for the user to customize a computersystem by writing his own microprograms and storing the same inside the PROM chip. Once such programmes are entered, the recorded information cannot be chenaged. In other words, after recording PROM will behave in the sme manner as ROM i.e. read-enabled and write-disabled.
